The Combined Defence Services Examination Is Held By The Union Public Service Commission Twice A Year Generrally In The Months Of February And August For Admission To The Following Course:
(i) Indian Military Academy, Dehradun for the courses commencing in the following January and July respectively.
(ii) Naval Academy, Goa for the courses commencing in following January and July respectively.
(iii) Air Force Station, Begumpet, Hyderabad (Pre-flying) for the courses commencing in the following January and July respectively.
(iv) Officers Training Academy, Chennai for the courses commencing in the following May and October respectively.
Nationality
A candidate must either be (i) a Citizen of India, or (ii) a subject of Bhutan, or (iii) a subject of Nepal, or (iv) A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before January 1st, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or (v) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii), (iii), (iv) and (v) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
Certificate of eligibility will, however, not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination provisionally subject to the necessary certificate being given to him by the Govt. before declaration of result by the UPSC.
Age limit
AGE LIMITS, SEX AND MARITAL STATUS :
Minimum age limit of candidates as on the date of commencement of the course is 19 years (for all categories). Other details are: (i) For IMA-Maximum age : 24 years, unmarried male, (ii) For NA- Maximum age 22 years; 24 years for Naval Wing 'C', unmarried male. (iii) For Air Force Academy: Maximum age: 23 years, unmarried male, and (iv) For Officers Training Academy: Maximum age : 25 years, married or unmarried male.
NOTE : Date of birth as recorded in Matriculation/Higher Secondary or equivalent examination certificate will only be accepted.
Minimum Educational Qualification
(i) For IMA and Officers Training Academy- Degree of a recognised University or equivalent; (ii) For Naval Academy - BE or BSc (with Physics & Maths); (iii) For Air Force Academy - BSc with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engineering.
Graduates with first choice as Army/Navy/AirForce are to submit proof of Graduation provisional certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.
Candidates who have yet to pass the Degree Examination can also apply but they will be required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination to reach the Army HQ/Rtg CDSE Entry, New Delhi-ll0066 in case of IMA/SSC first choice calldidates; and HQ, 'DMPR' (R & R Section), Room No.204, 'C' wing, Sena Bhawan, New Delhi-110011 in case of Navy first choice candidates; PO-3(A)/Air Headquarters, 'J' Block, Room No.17 , Opp Vayu Bhawan, Motilal Nehru Marg, New Delhi-11 0011 in case of Air Force first choice candidates by the specified date failing which their candidature will stand cancelled.
Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical Degrees would also be eligible for admission to the examination.
In exceptional cases, the Commission may treat a candidate, who does not possess any of the qualifications prescribed in this rule as educationally qualified provided that he possesses qualifications, the standard of which, in the opinion of the commission, justifies his admission to the examination.
Examination Fee
(i) Candidatts seeking admission to the examination must pay to the commission with the completed Application Form a fee of Rs 100/- (Rupees one hundred) through Central Recruitment Fee Stamps or Crossed Indian Postal Orders payable to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission at the New Delhi General Post Office or through Crossed Bank Draft from any Branch of the State Bank of India payable to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission at New Delhi, candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes are not required to pay any fee.

No claim for a refund of fee paid to the Commission will be entertained nor can the feee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
