Basic Information regarding Exam

Applications are invited from male and female Indian citizens for Short Service Course (SSC) as SSC officers for the course of 44 weeks and male Indian Citizens for Permanent Commission as officers for the course of 74 weeks for Electronic/ Mechanical Branch commencing in the months of July and January.

Age limit
18 to 28 years. Candidates below 25 years of age should be unmarried and should remain so during training period.

Minimum Educational Qualification
FOR ELECTRONICS BRANCH : A first or high second class or equivalent grade (at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate of all semesters) from recognised Indian/Foreign University or Institution in any of the following discipline:
(i) Engineering Degree inElectrical/Electronics/Telecommunication/Communication/lnstrumentation/ Computer Science and Engineering or a combination of these subjects. OR

(ii) B. Tech in Radio Physics and Electronics of Calcutta University. OR

(iii) M.Sc. Physics with Electronics of Bombay University. OR

(iv) M.Sc. (Electronics) of Delhi, Bangalore, Lucknow, Gujarat or Calcutta University. OR

(v) B.Sc. (Physics, Maths, Chemistry) and AMIE or equivalent degree in Electronics/Electrical/ Avionics/Teleconununication/Radio and Radio Engineering/ AMAESI with Avionics/Conununication with 2 years experience.

FOR MECHANICAL BRANCH : A first or high second class or equivalent grade (at least 55 per cent marks in aggregate of all semesters) in anyone of the following from recognised Indian/Foreign University or Institution:
(i) Engineering Degree in Aeronautical/Mechanical/Production/Industrial Production. OR

(ii) B.Sc. (Physics, Maths, Chemistry) and AMIE/Equivalent or Associate Membership Examination Parts II and III of the Aeronautical Society of India with Group I (Design and Production) or Group II (Maintenance Repair and Overhaul) subjects by actual studies along with 2 years experience. Reservation of Seats: IO per cent vacancies are reserved for Ex-NCC candidates having 'C' certificate of Sr Division (Air Wing).

Details Regarding Selection Procedure

Interivews Test/ Personality Test
A shortlisted candidates will appear before Air Force Selection Board and undergo screening through Psychological Test, Group Test and Interview spread over 4-6 days at one of the Air Force Selection Boards, located at Dehradun, Mysore and Varanasi. Prior to this all candidates have to appear in an Initial Screening Test called Engineering Knowledge Test. They will not be entitled to compensation for injury sustained as a result of any test. Reconunended candidates would be medically examined and detailed strictly in order of Merit as assessed by the Selection Board. After the duration of training, candidates will be conunissioned in the rank of Pilot Officer and will be entitled to pay and allowances on joining AFTC. Promising PC Officers get higher promotions upto the rank of Air Marshal.
