Applications are invited from unmarried male and female Indian citizens for Short Service Commission as officers in Indian Navy for course commencing in the months of January and July.

Age limit
19 1/2 to 25 years.

Minimum Educational Qualification
For Men : An Engineering/Degree with )5% markjs in Telecommunication/ Aeronautical/ Avionics/Instrumentation and Control/Electrical/Electronics/Mechanical/Production/ Naval Architecture.

For Women : 4 year Degree in Naval Architecture with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent qualification recognised by the institute of Engineers (India) as exempt from Section' A ' and 'B' of their Associate Membership examination.

Physical Standards
Height : Minimum (for men) -157 crns with correlated weight, (for women),-152 cms with correlated weight. Eyesight : 6/36 (6/24 for men may be applicable), 6/36 (correctable to 6/6 in each eye with glasses).

The selection procedure is as follows :
(a) Candidates shortlisted on the basis of the order of merit will be detailed for Intelligence Tests/ Interviews by the Services Selection Boards at Bangalore or Bhopal, followed by a medical examination.

(b) The duration of SSB interview is five days. During their lay at the SSB, candidates are put through Psychological Tests, Individual Tests, oupTests, Group Discussions and Interview. On the day of arrival, candidates undergo all Intelligence Test and only those who qualify, participate in the subsequent tests; others are sent back the same day.

(c) Candidates recommended by the SSB and declared medically fit, will be appointed for training in the order of merit.

Training : Candidates are entered as Sub-Lieutenants and undergo Naval Orientation Course at Naval Academy, Goa, followed by professional training. Aeronautical Engineers will be trained and employed on maintenance of state of Art Aircraft in the Navy. (Information compiled from Vidyapatha.com)
