Basic Information regarding Exam

An All India Competitive Examination is held for recruitment to the grade of Junior Engineers (Civil/Electrical) in Central Public Works Department.

Age limit
(i) l8 to 25 years. Upper age limit is relaxable upto 5 years for SC/ST and in certain cases of displaced persons;
(ii) Relaxable for Departmental candidates employed in CPWD having prescribed qualification upto 35 years (40 for SC/ST);
(iii) Relaxable for Physically Handicapped persons upto ten years;
(iv) Relaxable for Ex-Servicemen by the length of Military Service plus 3 years.

Minimum Educational Qualification
Three-year, full time (or equivalent) Diploma in Civil Engineering for Junior Engineer (Civil) and Diploma in Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering for Junior Engineer (Elecirical) from a recognised Institute, Board or University and recognised by the All India Board of Technical Education with not less than 60 per cent marks in respect of candidates belonging to general category and OBC, and not less than 50 per cent marks for SC/ST. However, this condition shall not apply in case of candidates possessing Degree in Civil/Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and also to those who are Physically Handicapped and Ex-Servicemen.

Examination Fee
Rs.30/- No fee for SC/ST/Ex-Servicemen/Physically Handicapped candidates. Fee must
be paid through Crossed Indian Postal Orders, payable to the specified officers.

General Note about Examination Scheme
The Examination shall consist of Objective Type Test. The details are as under :

1. Paper I
Subjects - English/Hindi {Applied Grammar and General Awareness including Geography of India) - Remarks: Common Junior Engineer (Civil/Electrical)
Duration - 2 Hrs
Marks - 50 Marks

2. Paper II
Subjects - General {Civil and Structural) - Remarks: for Junior Engineer (Civil) OR General
Engineering {Electrical and Mechanical) - Remarks: for Junior Engineer (Electrical)
Duration - 2 1/2 Hrs
Marks - 200 Marks

Other Information Regarding Plan of Examination :
The standard of question paper (Objective Type) will be that of Diploma in Civil/ Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
