Admission of Indian Nationals to Post-graduate courses, with MHRD scholarship, in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy/Architecture at Engineering Colleges/ Institutes in the country will be open to only those who qualify in GATE. GATE is conducted on a National Basis Every Year on the second Sunday of February. While qualifying in
GATE is essential, final selection and award of scholarship will be governed by the procedures laid down by the Institution offering admission. Sponsored candidates desirous of availing of the scholarship must have qualified in GATE.

GATE is mandatory qualification for self-financing foreign students and children. of Indians including non-resident Indians, who hold non-Indian passports but have obtained their qualifying Degrees from Indian Institutions/Universities for admissionto Post-graduate courses. Admission of such candidates will be subject to Government of India clearance and they will not be entitled for scholarship.

Minimum Educational Qualification
(a) Bachelor's Degree holders in Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy/Architecture and those who are presently in the fmal or pre-final year of one such programme;

(b) Those who have already obtained by examination, professional qualifications such as AMIE recognised by UPSC/ AICTE as equivalent to B Tech/BE;

(c) Master's Degree holders in Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics or equivalent and those who are in the final year of one such programme. However, in Case of MCA, the candidate should have had courses in Maths at Bachelor's Master level;

(d) Those in IInd or higher year of the (Post BSc) 4-year Integrated Master's Degree Programme in Engineering,'Technology or in the 3rd year or higher year of the 5-year integrated Master's Degree/Dual Degree Programme in Engineering/Technology;

(e) Students in the second year or higher of the post-BSc. Four- Year Integrated Master's Degree Programme in Engineering/ Technology.

Information Brochure and Application Form can be obtained by sending

(1) the application fee of Rs 1000/- (inclusive of the registration fee) only by a crossed Bank Draft drawn in favour ofHT* ...payable at* ...(*insert the place 1 ofIlT to which you are making the request) or Indian Institute of SCiellCe, Bangalore, : payable at Bangalore; (Rs 5001- for SC/ST),

(2) a requisition giving the Bank Draft li details; and

(3) two slips of size 5 crns x 10 cms indicating your postal address in CAPITALS to anyone of the following:

Applications are generally issued between the months of September to November.

PhD Programmes :
Candidates qualifying in GATE are also eligible for the scholarship for PG programmes leading to PhD Degree Engineering and Science.
