Chennai : A master’s course in Medicinal Chemistry was introduced at Sri Ramachandra University here on Wednesday.
A central research facility has been developed at the university for the students at a cost of Rs 45 crore, said a release issued here.
Speaking at the ocassion, K Raghavendra Rao, MD, Orchid Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals, traced the growth of the industry pointing out that India has grown from an importer to an exporter of medicines.
However, not a single allopathic medicine has been invented and marketed by an Indian company, he said.
