A two-year job-linked vocational course (full-time) in "Railway Commercial" at the +2 1evel had been introduced from the academic year 1991-92, as a Pilot Project. The Vocational Course in "Railway Commercial" is recognised by the Central Board of Secondary Education. On successful completion of the course, the students will normally be appointed directly as Commercial Clerks / Ticket Collectors on the Indian Railways after passing the medical examination, etc., subject to their attaining the minimum standards in the +2 examination.
The Vocational Course is conducted in 9 selected schools located at Delhi, Mumbai (2 schools), Chennai, Calcutta (2 schools), Secunderabad, Guwahati and Gorakhpur. Each of the selected school has only one section for the Vocational Course. The number of students admitted in each school shall not exceed 40.
COURSE CONTENTS
Subjects : The subjects for the Vocational Course in "Railway Commercial" are as under:
1. English
2. A second language offered by the school OR Business Studies OR Economics
3. General Foundation Course
4. Railway Commercial Working (Theory and Practical)
5. Economics
6. Accountancy
The students shall have the option to study an additional subject, out of the following electives:
(a) Mathematics; (b) Business studies;
(c) Introductory Computer Sciences (Theory and Practical); (d) Psychology.
Age limit
Students must be 15 years of age or above but less than 18 years as on 1st June.
Examination Fee
A Crossed Postal Order for Rs 40/- drawn in favour of "Railway Recruitment Board" concerned.
