New Delhi : A 45-year-old businessman allegedly committed suicide at his Narela home on Sunday morning. Ashish Pal Khetri shot himself with an
illegally acquired country made pistol around 5:30 am. While the police have registered a case illegal possession of arms against the deceased, they are not ruling out the recent stock market crash as a possible reason behind the suicide.
According to the police, Khetri fired a single shot at his temple, resulting in instant death. A police officer investigating the case said, "The exact reason behind the suicide is still not clear as family members are in shock and unable to give a statement. However, going by the fact that the stock market has been volatile for some time now and businessmen have been having a tough time, we are not ruling out that as a possibility.''
The deceased is survived by his wife Babita and son Sandip. At the time of the incident, his son, an MBA aspirant, was in Chandigarh. Khetri is said to be owner of a couple of buildings in Delhi and a hotel in Panipat.(TOI)
