I would like to thank Rixon
for waiting for me: Harbhajan
Harbhajan Singh has joined
up with Surrey after his bowling action was given a
conditional reprieve by the International Cricket
Council.
Q. How do you feel about the ICC
investigation into your doosra?
Harbhajan
after his first net session at The Oval (EMPICS)
A. I'm happy with the way things started out. I was very
confident about it and I'm glad that everything is right
now.
I just want to play my best and I want to give
everything I can to the team.
I was always confident because I knew there was nothing
wrong with it. I completed all the tests and I was glad
the second time I didn't have to go anywhere.
In Australia, they put 12 cameras around you, they make
a record of where you bend and how much you bend.
But really I don't want to keep mentioning it. I would
just like to concentrate on playing for Surrey as this
will be my first cricket for a long while.
I would like to thank my cricket board for supporting me
and I hope this is sorted out for the rest of my life.
Q. You must be keen finally to make a
start in county cricket after the disappointment of
2003, when you were unable to play for Lancashire
because of injury.
Well I've seen many guys playing here and learning a lot
about their own game - Rahul Dravid, Shane Warne and
Anil Kumble.
Look at those guys - they have been role models for me.
They are totally changed people after coming to play
here.
As a professional, people expect you to do well, you
can't just keep your head down. Hopefully I will be a
much better cricketer for playing here.
Q. How does it feel coming to play for
Surrey at The Oval?
He will contribute in those tight situations
Steve Rixon, Surrey coach
A. I love The Oval, I've always done very well here and
I would like to thank Steve [Rixon, the coach] and all
the other guys for waiting for me.
They have been very supportive and I would like to give
them something very special to remember me by. I'll give
whatever I can.
I've loved the last seven years playing cricket for my
country and I would like to learn a lot of things from
here as well.
Q. India play England at home early
next year - are you going to be examining the techniques
of some of the English batsmen?
A. We have got a lot of cricket before then and anyway I
have been playing against many of the England players
for the last three or four years.
They are good players - it should be good fun to have
them in India, let's see how they play.
Q. Finally, do you think Greg Chappell
is a good choice as the next India coach?
I think he should be. He was a great cricketer, we are
pleased to have him on board. I am looking forward to
working with him once I get back. |
