Rahul's visit to drought-hit area a gimmick: Anna

Mumbai: Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare, who launched his five-day campaign in Maharashtra for a strong Lokayukta in the state on Tuesday, hit out at Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi.

The veteran Gandhian slammed Rahul over his visit to drought-hit regions, and termed it as media publicity.

"Rahul Gandhi went for a few hours to tour a drought-affected region, the media hailed him, there was a photo op and that is all. The drought situation cannot be solved like that," said Anna.

Anna further denied any difference in his team over his sharing stage with yoga guru Baba Ramdev. He claimed that there was no question of any difference as the decision was taken in presence of all the members.

When asked about his stand on the naming of former Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan, with whom he had negotiated earlier, in the Adarsh housing society scam, Anna said, "I don't want to name any individual, but the strictest punishment should be meted out if a case is made out."
