Teenage sexual intercourse before the age of 17 tends to be a source of regret: almost 6 out of 10 girls who had their first sexual experience before the age of 17 regret this act and believe they should have waited longer.

One study conducted among girls and boys showed that almost half of those who had sexual intercourses before the age of 16 had used no means of contraception. One third of the youths between the age of 18 and 24 included in the study had their first sexual experience before the age of 17.

Are there any serious risks involved in teenage sexual intercourse? The answer seems to be yes. Research made a shocking discovery: for girls who jump under the sheets for the first time before they are 17 there is 70% more chance of suffering from high risk pregnancy later in life.
