NATO containers cross into Afghanistan: Pak official

Chaman: After a seven-month hiatus, the first truck carrying supplies to US and NATO troops crossed Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Thursday.

Over 135 containers will leave for Afghanistan from Port Qasim Karachi today, reported Geo News.

Fazal Bari, a paramilitary official at the Chaman border crossing, said the first truck moved around noon local time on Thursday.

Islamabad blocked the NATO supply routes after two dozen Pakistani soldiers were killed in an air attack on November 26 last year.

The NATO supply route was reopened after the federal cabinet endorsed the decision of the Defence Committee of the Cabinet for reopening it.

After months of back-and-forth negotiation, Pakistan reopened the routes on Tuesday after US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton apologised for the border deaths.
