HC orders nullification of common land allotted to Subhash Ghai

New Delhi: After his land deal went awry in Maharashtra, Bollywood producer and director has suffered another setback as the Haryana High Court has now ordered quashing of allotment of 20 acres of village common land in Haryana. Ghai planned to open a branch of his production company Mukta Arts in Haryana.

Haryana HC has further ordered that the land be handed back to villagers.

It must be known that in May 2012 the Punjab and Haryana High Court had stayed the execution of the sale deed of land purchased by Ghai`s Mukta Arts in Badhsa village of Jhajjar district in Haryana.

The orders were issued by the High Court after taking cognizance of a petition alleging favoritism by the Haryana government in granting permission to sell 20 acres of shamlat (common land).
