New Delhi : They called it the game changer, Government’s direct cash transfer scheme has promised to have an impact on the masses - and even the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is sensing it. The principal Opposition party is unhappy with the timing of the move - fearing it could favour the Congress immediately in poll bound states and more importantly ahead of 2014.

BJP has now decided to take the matter to the Election Commission, calling it a poll code violation as four of the 51 districts selected by the Government for direct cash transfer fall in poll-bound Gujarat. With Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in retail out the way, if the Government was hoping Parliament would function smoothly in the remainder of the Winter Session - the Government’s direct cash transfer could just change the game.
