Srinagar : At least four persons, including a woman, were today killed and 22 others injured as unidentified persons hurled a grenade outside a mosque in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said.
A group of unidentified men hurled a grenade outside the mosque as people were coming out of the mosque after offering their Friday prayers. The entire area has been cordoned off to nab the attackers.
The grenade was lobbed by unknown assailants towards the mosque at Tahab, 31 kms from here, in Pulwama in south Kashmir at around 1.15 pm when a large number of people had gathered there to offer Friday prayers, the sources said. They said of the 26 people injured in the explosion, four succumbed to injuries later.
Malauna Abdul Rashid Dawoodi was leading the Friday prayers` at the mosque when the attack took place, the sources said. In another incident, the sources said four persons including three security personnel were injured when suspected militants exploded a grenade at crowded Hari Singh High Street in the heart of the city today.
The grenade was hurled by unidentified militants at a moving CRPF vehicle in the busy area around 2.40 pm, the sources said. The blast left four persons - two CRPF jawans, a policeman and a woman - injured, the sources said. The injured have been hospitalised. PTI
