हिमाचल प्रदेश के राज्यसभा चुनाव में कांग्रेस को करारी कार का सामना करना पड़ा. बहुमत होने के बाद भी कांग्रेस उम्मीदवार अभिषेक मनु सिंघवी जीत नहीं सके. कांग्रेस के 6 और 3 निर्दलीय विधायकों की क्रॉस वोटिंग से दोनों पार्टियों को 34-34 वोट मिले. कांग्रेस-बीजेपी के बीच टाई होने पर पर्ची से ड्रॉ निकाला गया, लेकिन कांग्रेस इसमें हार गई और बीजेपी के हर्ष महाजन ये चुनाव फतह कर गए.
Congress had to face a tough battle in the Rajya Sabha elections of Himachal Pradesh. Despite having majority, Congress candidate Abhishek Manu Singhvi could not win. Due to cross voting of 6 Congress and 3 independent MLAs, both the parties got 34-34 votes. When there was a tie between Congress and BJP, a draw of lots was conducted, but Congress lost and Harsh Mahajan of BJP won the election.
