दिल्ली कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष अरविंदर सिंह लवली ने 28 अप्रैल को अपने पद से इस्तीफा दे दिया। अपने इस्तीफे के बाद एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित करते हुए अरविंदर सिंह लवली ने कहा कि उन्होंने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया है, पार्टी से नहीं। उन्होंने आगे स्पष्ट किया कि वह किसी अन्य पार्टी में शामिल नहीं होंगे। प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस को संबोधित करते हुए अरविंदर सिंह लवली ने कहा, ”मैंने पत्र में अपने दिल का दर्द और दिल्ली के कांग्रेस कार्यकर्ताओं का दर्द लिखा है.
